The Google Store sells products made and owned by Google. Their marketing team wanted to push out some charming gifs for the holidays.
As a Motion Designer, I worked closely with illustrators, marketing, and managers to animate gifs for the Google Store’s Twitter account.
Google contacted me 1 week before this project’s deadline. The tight timeline meant the team had to be self-directed in order to move fast. Each animation was limited to a specific file sizes, needed to be built for multiple potential revisions, and some templates needed to work with their automated system (to exported gifs with custom images inside).
Part 1: Engagement
The Google Store tweeted a gif to anyone who tagged them in a post with “#HolidaysByUs”. The campaign sparked conversations about family activities & holiday traditions. Anyone who tweeted Google an image would receive a tweet in return with their image automatically placed into a fun animation.

Part 2: Delight
To add surprise and delight into each gif, I made the animation style a little slower, softer, and more gentle than usual. I also played with wait time between scenes to add some suspense and anticipation if the animation had a surprise coming.
